Convert a scanned PDF to text
No text layer? Render the pages and read them with Tesseract, locally.
- 1Drop an image or scanned PDF
PNG, JPG or a PDF — scanned pages are rendered and read page by page.
- 2Pick language and enhancement
Language packs are stored with the site and load only when selected. Grayscale, contrast and 2— upscale can rescue faint or small print.
- 3Take the text
Copy it or download as .txt. Multi-page PDFs include a clear page marker before each page's text.
Questions people actually ask
Which languages?
English, Urdu, Arabic, Hindi, Spanish, French, German, Portuguese, Russian, Simplified Chinese, Turkish, Indonesian, Bengali and Persian, plus several English combinations. Each pack stays local and is cached after first use.
How accurate is it?
Clean digital renders and sharp scans: excellent, better than 99% on normal text. Phone photos of curved paper: entirely readable, with a few corrections needed. Enhancement can help, but no OCR fixes a genuinely blurry source.
Is the text going anywhere?
No. Recognition runs in the tab, on your machine — which is also why it takes real seconds instead of a server's instant score. The trade is understood and accepted here.
