Questions people actually ask
Why bother converting?
Windows tools, older editors and half the web treat HEIC like a foreign language. JPG opens everywhere, instantly.
Why is this conversion slower than the others?
HEIC decode is heavy, real work — a few seconds per photo rather than a blink. Worth it for not uploading your camera roll anywhere.
Will portrait photos come out sideways?
No. The HEIC rotation is applied during decode, and the JPG is written without an orientation tag, so another app can't rotate it a second time. The result card shows the final pixel dimensions.
