Terms of use

Short enough to read. If a sentence here ever surprises you, the sentence is the problem — tell me and it will be fixed.

The short version: use the tools lawfully, keep backups, do not rely on them for anything safety-critical, and understand that a password you lose cannot be recovered. The output is yours. The site is free and comes with no warranty.

1. The service

PocketPDF provides browser-based file tools: PDF editing, conversion, compression, encryption and decryption, image conversion and resizing, OCR, video and audio conversion, archives, QR codes, text utilities and calculators. The current list is on the all tools page.

By using the site, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the site. The terms apply to everyone who opens a page, whether or not they process a file.

All processing happens locally in your browser. There is no account, no upload, no server-side queue and no file storage. That architecture is also the reason the service can be free.

2. Your files and backups

You keep ownership of every file you open. PocketPDF does not claim any licence or right over your documents, and it does not receive a copy of them. The tools create a new output file and never modify the original in place.

Keep a backup of anything important. Every file operation carries some risk: a wrong setting, a rare bug, a browser crash, a device losing power at the wrong moment. For irreplaceable files, keep a second copy before and after processing. This is ordinary care, not a comment on the tools.

You are responsible for having the right to process the file. Do not use the site on documents you do not own or have permission to handle.

3. Acceptable use

You may use PocketPDF for personal, educational and commercial work. You may not use it to:

Automated access that places a disproportionate load on the host is not permitted. Ordinary browsing, linking to pages and using the tools for their intended purpose are all fine.

4. Passwords, encryption and security tools

The Protect PDF tool encrypts files with AES-256 or RC4 in your browser. The encryption is real, and there is no password recovery. If you forget the password, neither you nor PocketPDF can open the protected file. Keep the password in a password manager and keep an unprotected backup in a safe place if losing access would be serious.

The Unlock PDF tool removes encryption from a file when you supply the correct password. It does not bypass, guess or recover a password you do not know.

PDF permission flags — —do not print—, —do not copy—, —do not edit— — are instructions that well-behaved readers honour. They are not a technical guarantee against a determined person. Use a strong password when confidentiality matters.

Encryption protects the file, not everything around it. A recipient who can open the file can still photograph the screen, copy the text by hand, or forward the password to someone else. Choose recipients the way you would for any sensitive document.

Metadata removal is similarly scoped. Sanitize PDF removes common document metadata, but it is not a forensic redaction tool and does not guarantee that every hidden object, layer or revision is gone. For legal disclosure or a hostile review, use a dedicated redaction workflow and verify the result.

5. Signatures and official documents

The signature tool places a drawn image on a PDF page. It is a visual signature, not a digital certificate. It carries no cryptographic identity, no timestamp authority and no tamper evidence. Anyone can copy or alter the image with the right tools.

Whether a drawn signature is legally sufficient depends on the agreement, the jurisdiction and the parties— requirements. For contracts that need signer identity, audit trails, qualified certificates or eIDAS/ESIGN-level assurance, use a dedicated e-signature service. PocketPDF does not claim to be one.

6. Output and ownership

The files you create are yours. No attribution is required, no watermark is added, and no licence file needs to be reproduced. You may use the output for client work, school work, business documents and anything else lawful.

The site—s own code, design, text and guides remain the property of their respective authors and are protected by copyright. You may not republish the site wholesale or present it as your own. Linking to pages is welcome.

The processing libraries are open-source projects under their own licences, credited on the about page. Those licences govern the libraries, not your documents.

7. No professional advice

PocketPDF is a file utility, not a law firm, accountant, doctor or financial adviser. OCR output can contain errors, compression can remove detail, and a converted file can look different from the original. Do not rely on the tools for a decision where an error would cause harm without checking the result against the source.

A file that looks correct on screen may not be accepted by a court, a government portal, a printer or another organisation. Check the recipient—s requirements before you send it.

8. Availability and changes

The site is provided as-is and may change, move or be unavailable at any time. Tools can be added, changed or removed. There is no service-level agreement, no uptime guarantee and no support contract.

Offline use depends on your browser—s service-worker and cache behaviour. Cached pages usually keep working without a connection, but clearing site data, using a private window or a browser that blocks storage will remove that ability. Offline availability is a convenience, not a guaranteed copy of the site.

9. No warranties

To the fullest extent permitted by law, PocketPDF is provided without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose, merchantability, accuracy, non-infringement and uninterrupted availability. The tools are made by one person and offered in good faith. Bugs are fixed when found, but they cannot be warranted away in advance.

Nothing in these terms excludes a warranty or right that cannot be excluded by law. If you are a consumer, your statutory rights remain intact.

10. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, PocketPDF and its author are not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential losses arising from the use of the site — including lost time, lost opportunities, lost profits, or data loss that a backup would have prevented. The tools are free, so the maximum direct liability is correspondingly limited.

This limitation does not apply where the law does not allow it, including liability for fraud or for death or personal injury caused by negligence.

11. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Pakistan. Disputes are subject to the jurisdiction of the competent courts of Pakistan, without affecting any mandatory consumer protection rights you have where you live.

12. Changes to these terms

These terms may be updated as the site changes. The date at the top will change, and material changes will be described in plain language rather than slipped in silently. Continuing to use the site after a change means the updated terms apply.

13. Contact

If anything here is unclear, or if a term seems unfair or inaccurate, use the feedback form. Real person, and a genuine willingness to correct a bad sentence.

Send a message

Messages, reviews and bug reports go to a private feedback log on this site. Nothing is published, and your files are never uploaded.

For a broken tool: the tool name, browser, and the steps that led to it are the most useful things. Do not paste passwords, keys or a sensitive file.

Files are never uploaded. Only this message is stored.
