What this tool does
PNG and SVG store pixels differently, so the image is decoded and redrawn rather than relabelled. That is what makes the output a real SVG file.
PNG transparency is preserved by PNG, WebP and SVG output. JPG, GIF, BMP and TIFF flatten it. SVG output wraps a raster PNG. It is not vector tracing and will pixelate when scaled. The conversion is deterministic and local: the same input produces the same output without a server in the middle.
