What this tool does
WebP and GIF store pixels differently, so the image is decoded and redrawn rather than relabelled. That is what makes the output a real GIF file.
Animated WebP is read as its first frame. WebP transparency follows the target format's rules. GIF is limited to 256 colours and a single frame; gradients can band. The conversion is deterministic and local: the same input produces the same output without a server in the middle.
Questions people actually ask
Is GIF output really from my file?
Yes. The WebP is decoded in this tab and re-encoded as GIF; nothing is uploaded or fetched.
What changes in the conversion?
Animated WebP is read as its first frame. WebP transparency follows the target format's rules. GIF is limited to 256 colours and a single frame; gradients can band.
Can I convert several files at once?
Yes. Drop as many as you like; each is converted independently and the ZIP button collects them.
Does resizing lose quality?
Downscaling discards pixels, so yes. Leave max width at 0 to keep the original dimensions.
