What this tool does

Each PDF page is rendered to a canvas at your chosen DPI and then encoded as TIFF. Vector text and images are rasterised in the process, so the result is a picture of the page rather than a PDF object.

TIFF output is uncompressed RGB, not LZW or JPEG-compressed. Expect large files; the upside is broad support in print and scanning software.

Questions people actually ask

What resolution should I use?

Screen (96 DPI) is fine for web previews. Standard (150 DPI) suits most documents. Print (300 DPI) is sharpest and slowest, with the largest files.

Is the TIFF output lossless?

TIFF output is uncompressed RGB, not LZW or JPEG-compressed. Expect large files; the upside is broad support in print and scanning software.

Are my files uploaded?

No. The PDF is read and rendered in this tab, and the images are created locally.
