Generate passwords, passphrases or PINs
Long random strings, memorable word phrases, or device PINs — with honest entropy and crack-time estimates.
- 1Pick a mode
Random characters for a password manager, a word passphrase for something you must remember, or a PIN for a device.
- 2Set the recipe
Length, character sets and lookalike control for random; word count and separator for passphrases; digits for PINs. Every option updates the strength estimate.
- 3Copy and store properly
Into a password manager, ideally. The clipboard is a hallway, not a home.
Questions people actually ask
Truly random?
Yes — from the browser's crypto generator, with rejection sampling so every character and word is equally likely. Slightly more code than the lazy version, meaningfully more entropy.
Should I use a phrase instead?
When you have to remember it, yes. Eight words plus a two-digit number is about 74 bits and far easier to recall than a 20-character jumble. The Passphrase mode builds one for you.
Why does a PIN look weak?
Because it is short: six digits is only about 20 bits. That can still be fine for a phone or SIM when the device rate-limits attempts; it is not enough for an online account.
